Abstract

During the course of present investigation, three entomopathogenic fungi were tested for their efficacy at different concentrations and compared with two neem-based insecticides, with a view to find out most effective treatment (s) against green gram aphid, jassids and thrips. Among different bio-pesticides, neem-based pesticides (NSE 5% and azadirachtin) proved their effectiveness against aphids, jassids and thrips up to 3 days after spraying, as survival aphid, jassids and thrips population was much lower than rest of the treatments. In order of effectiveness of treatment, L. lecanii 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit, M. anisopliae 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit, B. bassiana 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit showed effective control of aphids, Whereas, treatments of M. anisopliae 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit , L. lecanii 1.15% WP@ 7.5 gm/lit @ 7.5 gm/lit and B. bassiana 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit and B. bassiana 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit, M. anisopliae 1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit and L. lecanii1.15% WP @ 7.5 gm/lit showed effective control of jassids and thrips respectively. Also, during the investigation, influence of different bio-pesticides on coccinellid predators was studied. Thus, the results indicated that B. bassiana alone was unsafe for the coccinellid predators as it recorded lower number of survival lady bird beetle population. As regards yield, amongst the bio-pesticides tested for green gram aphid, jassids and thrips the treatment of L. lecanii 1.15% WP@ 7.5 gm/lit gave highest yield of green gram. All other bio-pesticide treatments were significant in respect of yield of green gram over untreated control.
